99 Problems & Barneys is one…..

Well it looks as if Jay Z maybe facing a little heat. Jay Z is set to release a holiday line at the famed store Barneys New York. This sounds like a great venture for Jay and his business but could this be a good venture for Jay’s fan base?
This question comes to play after Barneys was involved with two profiling incidents dealing with African American shoppers. Earlier this week a 19 year old college student Trayon Christian was arrested after he bought a $349 Ferragamo belt from the store.
A store clerk called police telling them that a man just made a purchase that she believed he could not afford. Trayon was questioned by detectives who believed him to have used a fraudulent card and ID to make this purchase.
Trayon wanted to buy this belt after he saw rapper Juelz Santana rocking this Ferragamo belt. He saved up money for his part time job so that he could make the purchase. If a young African American college student working a part time job can’t save his hard earned money to go buy a belt of his choice without a problem in a department store, what do you think will happen when Jay Z fans want to go buy items from his line?
Earlier in the year a 21 year old black women named Kayla Phillips faced the same problem after purchasing a $2,500 Celine bag in the department store. In 2011 famed rapper Wiz Khalifa and girlfriend Amber Rose were treated like thieves in Barneys as well… hmmm sounds like Barneys is one place that does not welcome African American shoppers even if they have the income to splurge.
Jay Z has partnered with Barneys to release a limited line with 25 % of the proceeds going to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
A petition was created by change.org lobbying for Jay Z to pull out of the deal after the store is being accused of discrimination.

Jay-Z Films “Picasso Baby” Music Video

Jay-Z was business as usual today, filming his new music video for the single “Picasso Baby” off his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail. The video shot was held at the Pace Gallery in New York City. He was joined by fans and models that were to appear as gallery attendees, as well as his famous friends such as Taraji P. Henson, and Wale. Check out behind the scene footage below!

NeNe Leakes Says I Do For The Second Time Around!

Over the past weekend, Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes tied the knot with former hubby Gregg Leakes. The couple committed their love for each other for the SECOND time around in front of 400 guest and of course reality TV cameras were there catching footage !

Guest included included Kim Zolciak, Vivica Fox and Fantasia Barrino, as well as Laura Govan, Omarosa, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Stewart, Kandi, and Phaedra Parks.

Congrats on the second time newly wed couple as their take their journey together.

Kris Jenner Explains The Meaning of North!

Kris Jenner sat down with the cast of “The View” and of course a hot topic was none other than that of the name chosen for her new granddaughter “North West”. Check out what Kris had to say on the name

“I love the name North. I’m pro-North. North means ‘highest power,’ and she says that North is [Kim and Kanye’s] highest point together,” and I thought that was really sweet.

You don’t walk around calling somebody, ‘Hi, North West.’ You know, it’s just North.”

I agree with Kris, I believe the name has a really sweet meaning! This is not the worst celebrity child name we’ve heard,give Kim & Kanye a break!

Kerry Washington Covers Maxim Australia

Kerry Washington will cover the July 2013 issue of Maxim Magazine Australia. Kerry is definitely bringing along some heat with her in the pictures from the spread, showing us a side we’ve never seen before. Check out what Kerry Washington had to say below, and pictures from the issue!

What attracted you to the role of Broomhilda?
“I wanted to be a part of this incredible project that represents a painful part of US history but also creates a hero out of it. There were people who fought for freedom and rebelled but we don’t hear those stories. This is obviously not a documentary or a true story but it’s exciting to watch Jamie become this badarse cowboy hero.”
Revenge tale that it is, there’s also a love story at the core of Django.
“Quentin was always saying to Jamie, “Don’t forget, this is a love story.” I think one of the great things about Quentin is that he’s so complicated as a human being. He is so excited about these exploitation films and yet so believes in the real humanity of people. He is so into blood and gore but such a romantic. These seemingly contradictory ideas that he embodies so fluidly are why his films are so great – because he’s paying attention to both of those aspects.”
Do you reckon watching this is a decent way to educate people about African-American history?
“We don’t deal openly with the reality of what was done. Partly because it’s so uncomfortable. It’s so horrific. It would take a director like Tarantino, who’s not afraid of that level of violence, to even tell the story. It was that bad. We tend to think, “No, that’s just sci-fi fantasy sh-t.” We all should have seen this coming, though. When you kill off Hitler in a movie, your next project is going to be this.”

Young Trajik Interview!

Hey “The Drop” watchers =), I’m bringing you another hot interview! This time with a rapper from my hometown of warren, Ohio. He goes by the name of Young Trajik! I talked with Young Trajik learning more about his musical sound and some of his upcoming projects! Check out below what Young Trajik had to say!

•Where are you from?
“I’m from the Fairview Gardens in Warren, Ohio”
•What sound do you have to bring to the music game?
“Not to sound cliché but I have a unique style to bring to the game. A lot of artists these days can’t make hit music unless they dumb down their skills. I incorporate both sides of the ball. Hit music with banging production to make you move but at the same time spitting nicely. I love to make my listeners rewind what I said….Like WOW! It keeps Hip Hop a competitive sport to me. I wanna be the best to do it!”

•Who are some of your musical influences?

“ I grew up listening to Nas, 2Pac, BIG, Ma$e, Cam’Ron, Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Master P, UGK, OutKast, LL Cool J, Brotha Lynch Hung, Twista and Bone Thugs and Harmony. I’m also a fan of different genres like R&B, Pop and Rock music. It catches people off guard but my biggest inspiration since a youngin’ was and still is Michael Jackson! Today I enjoy music from Kanye, J.Cole, T.I., Kendrick Lamar, Jeezy and a host of other rappers. All bout what mood I’m in! That’s what’s in the deck.”

•Who would you like to work with?

“I would like to do music with anybody that inspires me. It’s all about chemistry in the studio but any of the above would do.”

•What can we expect from you in the near future?

“I just dropped my new EP titled “Bangmode Music” and I’ll be shooting a new video off that this summer. I’m currently putting together a tour and those details will be leaked soon. Just trying to reach out to my fans and supporters as much as I can.”

RHOA Cynthia Bailey Pregnant?!

Well there may be a new mommy in Atlanta. Reports of RHOA star Cynthia Bailey being pregnant have been spreading since the reality TV star was seen at The Miss USA 2013 pageant with what appears to look like a baby bump. Cynthia is denying that she is pregnant, sending out a tweet to fans

“Thanks for all the congrats! However, I am not pregnant. I am dealing with a medical condition that makes me look pregnant. Stay Tuned…”

Hmmm sounds a little fishy Cynthia! And let’s not forget that both Cynthia and Peter are pushing 60! If she is pregnant this will make her first child with husband Peter. Cynthia has a child from a previous relationship with actor Leon Robinson, and Peter has five children from a previous. Guess we will just have to wait and see!
